Ten Ways to Experience More Comfort & Joy Everyday of the Year
1.
Define What Comfort & Joy Really Mean To You
We
can take for granted that we know what certain words mean to us. Recently I realized
that until we take a few minutes to think about what comfort and joy really mean
to us, we might not have enough clarity to really live life based on experiencing
these emotions. What does 'comfort' look and feel like to you? What does it not
look and feel like? What does 'joy' look and feel like to you? What does it not
look and feel like? Once you have the answers to these questions, you will be
more aware of how to fully experience comfort and joy.
2.
Make Decisions Based On Experiencing More Comfort & Joy
Often
we make decisions based on factors such as how much more money an alternative
will generate for us or cost us, or how an alternative will enable us to reach
career or educational goals, etc. Next time you are making such a decision, make
sure you consider which the alternative will bring you more comfort and joy.
3.
Remind Yourself Daily That You Desire More Comfort & Joy
In the hustle
and bustle of our daily lives, we can get caught up in the details and forget
what we really want - in this case, more comfort and joy. A simple reminder first
thing in the morning as we prepare for our day can make a big difference.
4.
Remove Things In Your Life That Don't Bring Comfort & Joy
Often
there are things in our lives that actually prevent us from experiencing optimum
comfort and joy. Make a list of these things, relationships or activities and
take steps to eliminate or change them.
5. Do Something Everyday That Brings
Comfort & Joy
It doesn't
have to be anything big. Just adding one small thing that puts a bit of comfort
and joy in your day can make a big difference. It may be something you do for
yourself early in the day, or it may be something you can look forward to doing
at the end of your day, such as quietly sipping on a cup of herbal tea for 15
minutes before bed.
6. Take Better Care Of Yourself
In
our busy lives; our own care can be the very last priority. When we practice extreme
self care, we are more likely to have the energy, enthusiasm and presence to experience
more comfort and joy every day. First identify what types of self-care activities
you need the most, and then start taking care of yourself.
7. Eliminate
Complication - Simplify
Complexity
is not very comfortable or joyful. If we continually add new things to our lives
without eliminating or streamlining what already exists, our lives can become
hectic. Actively look for ways to simplify your life, and then start making things
easier.

8.
Use Your Strengths
We each
have special skills that are innate. Using these skills is so effortless for us,
that we often take them for granted and mistakenly assume everyone has these skills.
It is important to realize what your unique, natural gifts are, and then find
more opportunities to use them.
9. Delegate Activities That Require Your
Weaknesses
All of us have
areas where we are not strong - skills that don't come naturally or we can't seem
to master. When we have to use these skills, it is not very comfortable or very
joyful. Instead of "suffering" through the activity, find other means
to get the job done.
10. Live With Your Values In Mind
When our
behaviors or thoughts are not in harmony with our values, we can feel quite uncomfortable.
Sometimes we may not realize what our values are. First identify the top four
aspects that you value the most, and then begin living in accordance with these
values.
